Tanner says the cutest things:

So one of my big reasons for keeping a blog is it takes place of my scrapbooking/journaling for my family.
So a few things that my Tanner has said lately I think if I don't write them down I'll forget.

This morning as Tanner was getting ready to leave we satdown to do our few versus of reading scriptures when I look up and see that he has taken a red pen and drawn the Harry Potter scar across his forehead. What he was thinking I have no idea. It looked just like the real scar that Harry sports but not so attractive on my first grader. We had to then rush our morning so I could scrub it off and I felt bad later that I wasn't very fond of the whole idea. When I called Todd at work and told him he said "you should have just taken a picture." That sounds nice now but with bus coming there was no time for it. Maybe next time I'll try to see the magic in what Tanner was trying to see.

Last month it was my mom and mother-in-laws birthday. Tanner called my mom on her birthday and as he was talking he pulled a funny face like he is shocked and confused. I didn't really think much of it. Two weeks later he was helping me pick out a card for Grandma Mons. He says "Well mom we won't be sending another birthday card to Grandma Carter again though." I asked why: "becuase she's going to die." I said "What do you mean?" "Well when I talked to her on her birthday she told me that she was stopping right there at that age and wasn't going to get any older." I felt bad that for 2 weeks he didn't understand that she just didn't want to get any older not that she was going to die.

A few nights ago I told Tanner that he needed to go and clean his room if he wanted to do a certain fun thing the next day. He was up there for about 10 minutes when he yells down, "Mom are you going to be checking in my closet." To which I replied "well I am now." "Ahhh Man!"

When ever I say to him, Tanner what did your dad say about jumping on the couch, or teasing your brother or whatever the current thing is, he always responds with Maters "Ta not to!"

Yesterday he came home from school and told me that today they would be practicing their lock down drill. I was thinking that it was if someone were to come in with a gun or something like that, oh no not here in the desert. He said "Mom lockdown is when a coyote, cougar or bob cat comes onto the school grounds, all the teachers have to lock there doors to the outside courtyard." It just amazes me how much my prayers for my childrens safety have changed since moving here!
