Camping, service and my goat girl

Labor Day weekend turned out more eventful than we planned. We headed back up to the White Mountains to Big Lake. A beautiful 5 hour drive. The weather man said it would rain, and sometimes they are wrong but in this case he was SO right. We got there Friday and set up in the rain. Saturday it rained all day til night, at that point Todd set up the raft and the boys headed out to fish.

Here's the boys starting a forest fire! Just kidding everything was so wet it would have been a real chore.

Todd kept telling them to get out of the fire. I said "Todd tell me you didn't do this when you were a kid." He said "yeah and I got in trouble too."

Breakfast in the mountains, we had to make it quick because it started raining again shortly after. We planned on staying til Monday but we packed it up Sunday afternoon. It was just raining to dang hard.

This tent heater saved our lives. It ran pretty much the entire trip.

We did head into town Saturday morning. I love Pinetop I could live here. Here is my highlight a little stop to a craft fair.

Despite all the rain, my kids had a good time. That is probably the most important thing anyways. My favorite part was when the kids came back from fishing I had a bon fire going with hot chocolate ready for them. They thought that was so cool.

I had to work hard to keep a positive attitude and only a few times had to mention to Todd that I wanted to go to San Diego. As we were packing up camp, our kids sitting in the car because of the downpoor. Todd and I in our raingear, our fire smoldering. I turn to him and say through the rain, "do you think we need to pour water on our fire before we go?" Todd in reply "I'm really in no joking mood right now Jess." Again sitting on a beach would have been so nice right then.
My little goat girl.
I'm dying to do something with this girls hair. I think I still have a while to wait, but doesn't she look like a cute baby goat.

FOOD DRIVE

Our ward did a food drive for the Catalina food bank. The kids and I went and talked to 20 neighbors. Thursday morning at 7:30 we went and picked up all the food.

I had them miss the first hour of school to take it up there. The staff gave my kids a tour of this little facility. It was a good teaching moment for them and I just felt so good that we are fortunate enough to be on the giving end. I just cannot even imagine not being able to feed my kids. By the time we left Tanner was asking if there is a place he and Carter can donate thier toys.

You are such a trooper! I'm not a big camper, but camping in the rain and cold really stinks! Cali's hair is adorable, Phoebe only wishes she could have that much hair!
